The Essentials

Each game unit comes with various knobs or buttons to activate and a voice “commander” telling the players which action is required.

The object of the game is to listen to the commands and action them as quickly as you can and to keep going without a mistake — if you reach one hundred (100)  you open the next level with a faster pace and new commands. There are up to 3 levels per game unit.

The classic Bop It has the commands of bop it, twist it, pull it, and shout it — you can deactivate the “shout it” function if a player needs more time to learn to manage just 3 commands initially.  The kids do love the opportunity to “shout!”  The players can play solo, pass it, or party. As the levels get harder, the actions become more complicated, for example, in the Expert Level, if the voice states a body part, like “knee!” the player is supposed to activate the bop it button with their knee.

The X-Treme Bop It functions much in the same way as the classic, but it has more actions — it also includes spin it, flick it, and shake it. Again with each mastered level the speed gets more challenging and the motor actions more involved than simply just your hands.

The newer Bop It Game has less knobs but more innovative commands with an improved motion sensor — it still includes the classics of bop it, twist it, pull it, and also features commands like, drink it, selfie it, golf it, rock it, hammer it, and more!

This game is excellent for building auditory attention and response, bilateral coordination, motor planning, motor speed & precision, hand skills, hand awareness & control, and socialization.

There are also miniature versions of Bop It if you are interested in smaller game units.

Fun Factor

Children and adults laugh and giggle while playing this game and are highly motivated to beat the high score and opening up the next level.  The ability to play alone, with a partner, in teams, and in groups is Excellent! Very versatile, active, and engaging.

Kid consultants, the Panel of Experts, and parents give these game 2 thumbs up!  High marks for repeat play, skill building, socialization, eye hand coordination, auditory attention and reaction time, and rhythm.

Set-Up and Clean-Up

Set-up, clean-up, and storage of this game is simple. Each game unit is easy to clean and is durable. It the moving pieces do withstand the force used to activate each nob or button.

The If-Then, Buts

There have been occasions when the “shake it” knob becomes faulty.
