The Essentials

You are an archeologist about to discover 15 fossils. You dig and mine through the packed clay-sand to make the discoveries.

This kit includes a pre-molded square that is about 8 x 8 inches in size, a magnifying class, a small brush, and a small hack. The tools are small and great for kid hands. The fossils are deep in the mold and they are solidly made. The kids will need to dig, carve, and mine to find all the fossils. The accompanying book educates all the buddy scientists about each fossil discovered.

Fun Factor

Grandparents, parents, and kids report having a fantastic time with this kit. Parent report great joy in watching their children work together for hours. The fossils are authentic teeth, bones, shells and the booklet describes these truly cool fossils.

Parents, therapists, and kid consultants, give this kit high marks for fun, interaction, learning, and engagement.

Set-Up and Clean-Up

When you initially start digging, the shells on the outer surface are just for decoration — they are not the actual fossils. They break as you mine through for the real fossils deep and spread out within the mold. The true fossils do not break. You will end up with a pile of rubble in order to find everything — I recommend working on a large tray  ( at least 2 inches deep) or a large tarp to keep the mess down to a minimum.

The IF-THEN’S and the BUT’S

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD – Small parts. Not for children under 3 years or children who do not discriminate edibles vs non-edible or those who seek to chew, bite, and suck on hard items.

Follow the instructions regarding the amount of water to use to minimize mess and the about of force required to dig, carve, and mine for the fossils.
