The Essentials
The value and fun of the hangman game has not been lost with these board games’ fun twist on the game. Making it a competition to solve the mystery word first, elevates the engagement, competition, and level of skill building. The games displayed here provide each player a board, letter pieces, and a way to track how to close to “hanging” their opponent they are.
In this version of the game, players race to guess their opponent’s words before getting hung doing so. It is actually very reminiscent of playing battleship. The game version I use the most, is the Hangman Game by Parker Brothers, is also featured on the above slider — it is now considered a “classic”. The Word Hangman game version, also featured in this review uses similar boards, letter tiles, and convenient ways of displaying the progress of each player.
This game is fun for children and adults and gets high marks for fun, durability, and for building hand skills, attention, spelling, writing, socialization, and memory.
Fun Factor
Determination to solve the word puzzle before their opponent, easily engages children, especially for short-interval play times. Manipulating the game pieces keep the game active and moving forward. Kid consultants report enjoying playing with friends, their siblings, and rotational play with their parents. Parents report they enjoy using it to practice spelling and vocabulary words with their children during play.
Parents, therapists, and kid consultants, give this game high marks for fun, interaction, and repeat playing – this game merits being part of the standard rotation at home!
Set-Up and Clean-Up
Set-up, clean-up, and storage of this game is convenient. The pieces are durable, easy to clean, and manipulate.
The manipulation of the board and game pieces during set-up, game play, and clean-up is excellent for building fine motor and eye skills.
